Dear brethren, last Sunday, we looked at the need to take action in self-defense in persecution as it relates to intimacy, intercession and The Great Exchange for Service. We are thankful to readers from around the world who provided useful feedback from previous series on intercession. This Sunday, we are looking at specific things we must do both online and offline as first lines of defense in an increasingly volatile, lawless, wicked and self centered, self seeking world for self, family, schools, businesses and any type organization for that matter. So, Let’s begin!

In the scheme of God as it pertains to The Great Exchange for Service, The Greatest dis-service you can offer is the dis-service to yourself and the specific assignment God has given you to accomplish as ambassadors of Christ here on earth. Service exchange begins with the being – who I am in God rather than what I do for God. What profit is that to me, if I serve the whole wide world for God’s sake and end up in hell because I have let down my guide? Or if I have ignored or relegated my defense to others rather than to myself? It all boil down to self – defense (self-defence). It is ok to pray, it is ok to fast, it is ok to intercede but it is not ok not to take action when it has everything to do with me and eternity with God.

There are questions that could help us reinforce our defense mechanism can be highlighted hereunder like, What must I let go? Who must I let go? What association must I let go? What place , people or things must I let go? What are the things in my life that I just must let go for the sake of eternity?

Is it the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life that I must let go? Are there things in me or around me or far away from me that urge me uncontrollably to these three traits? I must self defend beginning today with ME and all the people God has brought into my life, ensuring, by Gods grace that we must all make eternity in Christ Jesus together. Jesus Christ, in two occasion brought up the issue of cutting things off our lives in the book of Matthew 5:27-30 and Matthew 18: 6-9 with respect to adultery and how we handle children. Isn’t that instructive? In one book, same warning. It means we just must take note of these things and take corresponding corrective action to mitigate or forestall avoidable consequences.

For instance, Peter confronted Jesus concerning His death on the cross, which was the core of His assignment here on it. Jesus addressed satan to get behind Him but not Peter. Jesus understood that Peter was just a tool used by Satan to stop Jesus from going to the cross or from letting go of His call here on earth. Are there people in our lives that are used as hindrances to Gods specific call over or lives, we must be discerning enough not to take it out on them but on the spirit behind them. We must not get into the flesh? Are we being persecuted for righteousness sake in our homes, offices, the market place and our nation? we must not get in the flesh because this is not a flesh and blood matter (Ephesians 6:10-20) This is bigger than we can handle on our own. We need heavenly backup with corrective actions where necessary manifesting in the physical environment.

We must deliberately cut things off that led us astray or break our focus on God. We must slow down on activities that eat into our personal altar with the Lord where intimacy with God is found. We must not see the attack on the heart of our nation from the position of flesh but understand that the devil is fighting the call over this nation. We must discern, spiritually speaking how to react while taking first line measures directly from the throne room by the wisdom God provides. This is only available in the place of intimacy. Jesus said in John 14:21 that if you have my commandments and keep them, it is you who love me and my Father will love you and I will love you and manifest myself to you..paraphrased. Verse 23 says Jesus and God the Father will come and make their home in us. We are now the church of Jesus Christ, not the building we gather every now and then. Meeting in church to worship is good as we equip one another for the work of ministry but our personal altars with the Lord of our life is the GREATEST investment we can make both now and into eternity. There are so many unnecessary headache we encounter because of lack of investment of time in the SECRET PLACE. This is where intimacy comes in. It is not given to everyone but only those who are willing and ready to obey. When this happens consistently, our actions becomes God’s action because our thinking are God’s thinking. Why not? Because they have made their home in us so nothing else can gain access to that place unless we give the go ahead to the devil to take a place in us.

For instance, do you and I feed our imagination with dirty pornographic images, we are setting ourselves up either for adultery or fornication which is a sin against our body, the temple of God. Do have have controls over our eye gate, our ear gate which are entrances to our souls? Do we attend odd parties that causes us to go against Gods injunctions, we need to cut it off. Are we keeping tab on what our love ones are doing online and offline? Do we know where they are if and when emergency structs unannounced?Can we respond to an emergency situation decisively when there is a call for help? Do we have systems in place to check excesses on systems in our home, school or businesses despite busy works schedule.. so you can proactively take corrective measures today to avoid failures tomorrow?

Let’s look at specific things we must do offline and some of these apply online as well:

1) Self Profiling

Psalms 26:2
2 Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; Try my mind and my heart.

Psalms 139:23-24
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties;
24 And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.

1 Corinthians 3:10
10 According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it.

1 Corinthians 7:20
20 Let each one remain in the same calling in which he was called.

We must profile our own self first. What are our strengths and weaknesses? What makes us fail and fall all the time? What is our spiritual state in God? Do we sincerely , intimately know Him, does He know us and relate with us? Do we know that or are we guessing ? What has God called us to do specifically for Him and in what area and to whom and with whom? Are we in His timing or should I say, are we synchronized or synced up with Gods agenda for our time? Are we living daily in obedience and carrying the cross He has designed for us to carry? We must write this down and score our performance continually so we don’t end up like Jonah in the belly of the fish.

2) Others Profiling

Matthew 23:15,33
15 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.33 Serpents, brood of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell?

Luke 22:31-32
31 And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat.32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”

23 You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men.
24 Brethren, let each one remain with God in that state in which he was called.

We must profile others. We must ask some serious questions about ALL our relationships from our wives to children to extended families, to our hired helps at home, to people we work with and work for, to our brothers and sisters in the Lord, our spiritual leaders and national leaders. What is their spiritual state? Outward appearance is deceiving. We must discern to find out what makes them do what they do so we can have VALID UPDATED CONTENT both to pray and to relate or cut off. We must determine what role we are to play in their lives and what role they are to play in ours. We must be able to tell whether they belong to the past, the present or the future or to maintain a distance. We must know who are the Judah’s iscariot in our lives, who must walk with us so we can fulfill purpose and still keep a very good attitude and Godly maturity.

3) Environmental Profiling

Genesis 18:20-21
20 And the LORD said, “Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grave,
21 I will go down now and see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry against it that has come to Me; and if not, I will know.”

Ephesians 6:18
18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—

We must profile our surrounding. We must discern the spiritual state of our environment like Sodom and Gomorrah and Gods exchange with Abraham. We must be aware of the principalities and powers holding that environment. We must also know the human representative of those entities to provide content for intercession. This environment also includes our workplace, where our children school or where we work or live so we do not act or pray in ignorance or advise in ignorance. We must be watchful of strange faces in our environment asking the Lord to unmask them and cause their intent to be known or to engage for evangelism. Instruction has to come from the place of intimacy. If we don’t ask Him, we don’t expect to hear and when He does speak and we are not ready, we can easily misinterpret and wrongfully apply. Some people are ripe to encounter Christ and some are not only the spirit of God can give us those hidden secrets.

In the online world, as partnered with developers from around the world and deployed on our site to address some of the self defense mechanism we mentioned earlier. we are now able to interact with devices (mobile phones, laptops, desktop and virtual devices) to block harmful content automatically from within or from afar on our devices and those of our love ones under the self ICT control or Family ICT control software . We are now able to approve content or block content remotely. We are now able to monitor what happens on those computers screens remotely in homes,schools and businesses without being physically present with them. So we do not expose ourselves and children to harmful content by default or have workers use production time for other things beyond official job.

We are now able to Geo track people, places and things with or without the internet, anywhere in the world and monitored and recorded in any part of the world. We are now able to pick up emergency messages from any device anywhere in the world with or without the internet. This could come handy in providing first responder action and not wait for event to break on the news before you know your wards are in danger. SOS emergency messages can be engaged to connect and alert parents or key guardians. The chibok girls, the Dapshi girls , Leah Sharibu cases are wake up calls for us all to get our spirit directed thinking up and acting.

In conclusion, It is impossible for anyone outside of you to help defend you beyond what you are willing to do to secure your self. Jesus escaped to Egypt, He escaped several times when the tried to kill Him before His time. Jesus confronted the spiritual leaders in His time. Jesus died in the time ordained for Him because it was written. We are not permitted to go before the appointed time. That is premature death. It is not our portion in the name of Jesus. First line self defense begins with you and me. Let it not be that out of our carelessness and ignorance, we refuse to take action and we end up casualties thinking that God Will do everything for us beyond what we are unwilling to do for ourselves. In the last 14 days, over 50 Nigerians on the Plateau, mainly believers have been hacked down in their sleep, or in broad day light by intruders, some of these intruders are dressed in combat uniforms, some in military uniforms and some in plain clothing right in the middle of the city, in broad day light. While this mayhem is ongoing, our politicians and government officials continue jostling for power come 2019. No one has been cut or arrested and business continue as usual for the ordinary Nigerian.Our government needs CPR – Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is an emergency procedure that combines chest compressions often with artificial ventilation in an effort to manually preserve intact brain function until further measures are taken to restore spontaneous blood circulation and breathing in a person who is in cardiac arrest. Other parts of the world, national mourning is called even for the death of a few.

 It is understandable when the world cares more about the things of the world. But what is shocking is the dead silence from our spiritual leaders in the body of Christ. I remember, when the issue of tithe came up, even the ones that don’t come out to speak on any issue came out to vehemently air their views. We have a situation where Christians are being attacked and why is the church so quiet to the bone???.. are we now known by justification for tithes so we can improve our bottom-line or by the love we have for one another? What has happened to our voices? Is the church no longer the voice for the voiceless? What united action are we taking? Are we so divided that what touches one, doesn’t touch all any longer? BEYOND praying, what must we do?…. But if you think this is happening only in Nigeria to Christians, then think again. From Egypt to the US, more Christians are been slaughtered in cold blood right within the walls of the churches..

Look below some statistics between 1999 to 2007 in the US alone and since then, the figures have grown astronomically compared to earlier figures…

   (December 9, 2007): After killing two people at a Christian training center in Arvada, Colo., 24-year-old Matthew Murray went to Colorado Springs intending more murder and mayhem. Murray shot and killed two girls in the New Life Church’s parking lot, then headed inside the building where thousands of worshippers were concluding a service.

•    Aug. 12, 2007: A lone gunman, Eiken Elam Saimon, opened fire in a Missouri Micronesian church, killing a pastor and two other churchgoers. 

•    May 20, 2007: A standoff between police and a suspect in the shootings of three people in a Moscow, Idaho, Presbyterian church ended with three dead, including one police officer. 

•    Although not at a church building, the Oct. 2, 2006, attack in Lancaster County, Pa., by a gunman who killed five girls and then himself at an Amish school targeted a religious site. 

•    May 21, 2006: Louisiana. Four were killed by a man at Jesus Christ Church. 

•    Feb. 26, 2006: Michigan. Two people were killed at Zion Hope Missionary Baptist Church by a man who reportedly went to the church looking for his girlfriend. 

•    April 9, 2005: A 27-year-old airman died after being shot at a church in College Park, Ga., where he had once worked as a security guard. 

•    March 12, 2005: A man walked into the services of the Living Church of God in Milwaukee and open fired immediately, killing seven people. 

•    Oct. 5, 2003: A woman opened fire in Turner Monumental AME church in Kirkwood, east of Atlanta, killing the pastor and two others. 

•    Sept. 16, 1999: Seven young people were killed when a man opened fire during a prayer service for teens at the Wedgewood Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas.

So what’s a church to do? Many churches today are concerned with their purpose and message being culturally relevant. What about the security of the people who attend? As more and more churches are attacked, will churches become more “culturally relevant” in their approach to security?

Today, in the great exchange for services, we want to look at the place of intercession, intimacy, self- defense and persecution. How do we defend ourselves from this slaughter going on around us, within us and spreading fast to other regions? Biblically speaking, does the bible allow for self-defense and how do we go about this? Lets look at what constitute self defense and and how this fits into our bible teaching.

Persecution is the act of harassing, oppressing, or killing people because of their difference from society. Christians are persecuted because their belief in Jesus Christ as Savior does not conform to the godlessness of a sinful world.

What then is self-defense when faced with persecution? Lets look at the legal definition first.

Self-defense(US) or Self-defence (UK) , Self-defence (NG) – Both will be used interchangeable.In the law dictionary, self-defense is the use of reasonable force to protect oneself or members of the family from bodily harm from the attack of an aggressor, if the defender has reason to believe he/she/they is/are in danger. 

To successfully claim self-defense, the defendant must prove four elements. First, with exceptions, the defendant must prove that he or she was confronted with an unprovoked attack. Second, the defendant must prove that the threat of injury or death was imminent. Third, the defendant must prove that the degree of force used in self-defense was objectively reasonable under the circumstances. Fourth, the defendant must prove that he or she had an objectively reasonable fear that he or she was going to be injured or killed unless he or she used self-defense

The classic test comes from the Australian case of Palmer v The Queen, on appeal to the privy Council in 1971:

The defense of self-defense is one which can be and will be readily understood by any jury. It is a straightforward conception. It involves no abstruse legal thought. … Only common sense is needed for its understanding. It is both good law and good sense that a man who is attacked may defend himself. It is both good law and good sense that he may do, but may only do, what is reasonably necessary. But everything will depend upon the particular facts and circumstances. … It may in some cases be only sensible and clearly possible to take some simple avoiding action. Some attacks may be serious and dangerous. Others may not be. If there is some relatively minor attack it would not be common sense to permit some action of retaliation which was wholly out of proportion to the necessities of the situation. If an attack is serious so that it puts someone in immediate peril then immediate defensive action may be necessary. If the moment is one of crisis for someone in imminent danger he may have [to] avert the danger by some instant reaction. If the attack is all over and no sort of peril remains then the employment of force may be by way of revenge or punishment or by way of paying off an old score or may be pure aggression. There may no longer be any link with a necessity of defence… If a jury thought that in a moment of unexpected anguish a person attacked had only done what he honestly and instinctively thought was necessary that would be most potent evidence that only reasonable defensive action had been taken.

Self-defense in our understanding based on scripture here is defined as “protecting oneself from injury at the hand of others.” Self-defense is not about taking vengeance. Self-defense is not about punishing criminals. Self-defense involves preserving one’s own health and life when it is threatened by the actions of others. Lets look at this story before we draw conclusion from the scriptures in 3 action points.

True Story of herdsmen encroachment into a ranch in Texas and How the owner handled it and lessons for us as wrestlers for enforcing kingdom mandate here on it as pilgrims.

One winter, the owner of a huge tract of land in Texas left his ranch in the hands of his men. They’d been working for him for years, and he was confident they could mind the homestead while he was away.

When spring came, he returned to his property only to find vast portions of it occupied by other cattlemen from the region.

Not only were these impostors pretending to own his land, they’d actually taken some of his cattle for their own-though the true owner’s brand was in plain view on every hide!

When he asked his hired hands about the situation, they assured him they’d warned the intruders to leave. They’d even shown them the legal deed for the property, and still the rival cattlemen acted as if they had the right to encroach.

Shaking their heads, the ranch hands told their boss, “We didn’t want anybody to get hurt, so we didn’t start a fight. We didn’t know what else to do. We figured you’d settle it when you got back.”

                The owner was naturally outraged. Who did these cattlemen think they were? Not only had they violated the law of the land, they had violated the code of gentlemen. This was a slap in the face, an insult of the highest order. You just don’t trespass on a fellow’s property, at least not on purpose. And you certainly don’t start your business there. There was no other way to interpret the situation: It was offensive and illegal.

And what about his own men? How could they possibly let thieves occupy their master’s rightful territory unchallenged?

        In the honorable tradition of parables about land owners returning to find things in disarray, I’ll pose the same question Jesus asked his listeners: What will the landowner do to these hired men? At the very least, he would express enormous disappointment with them. Did they really think it was enough to tell these lawless trespassers to leave, show them the deed, and wait for their compliance? To enforce the law, step number one- for anyone with any common sense whatsoever-would be to call the police and report the violation. Or even to call their boss so he could contact the sheriff himself. But to let the squatters settle until spring? Unthinkable. Irresponsible. Or, more bluntly, incompetent.

     But the owner would probably go further than a verbal rebuke. Any dependable hired hand should know how to deal responsibly with such a situation. If he doesn’t, he should be relieved of his duties.


     In a sense, the attitude of those hired hands( Believers) is the same pose we often take in our prayers. We pray for God to make the situation better, and If he doesn’t step in immediately, we assume he doesn’t mind nasty intruders (demonic agents and entities) occupying his land ( His kingdom in the earth).

     As people who say we follow Jesus, surely we can recognize that we don’t follow him well on this point. Jesus spent long nights in prayer, he sternly confronted demons, he resisted temptation to the point of exhaustion, he blasted moneychangers and threw their tables to the temple floor, and he even sweated blood one agonizing night in a garden. He insisted that mountains be moved, that faith be risky, and that prayers be persistent. He looked “with anger” at a self-righteous gang of legalists, and he spoke bold words in the face of evil.  Jesus did not put up with unholy trespassers.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are not dealing with flesh and blood who are reasonably speaking in their right senses, these people are devils messengers carrying out their masters assignment to kill , still and destroy. We can begin self- defense biblically speaking by doing the following:

  • Spiritual warfare prayers with the evil one – Deal with the spirit, love the person. Going on our knees to pray and engage the evil one in violent warfare. Binding the strongman that has taken over the minds of the intruders. We enforce the kingdom of God in their lives and in the space we dwell in with the intent of drawing them from their captivity. He came to set the captives free.
  • Intimacy with God– What is the mind of God in all of this? What times and season our we in? So we know what the evil one is planning and how to respond before they execute and when they will execute, getting to know the mind of God and wisdom on how to take action – to flee, to escalate to trusted help circle before it becomes too late or to stand our ground with every thing we have got to defend the lives and call or to die as martyrs for Christ if that is His mind. .. except the seed dies, it abides alone…
  • Proactivity in love – We need to be ready, ensuring all hands on deck. Anything touches one, it touches all, girded with the spirit of love. Love that is backed up with prayer and action. Persecution test our resolved in God and what we believe it. Persecution will happen, not if but when in different shapes and sizes so we must be ready and proactive in our response.

Dear brethren, thank you for the opportunity to write you this piece. May the Lord bless you richly as you not just read and digest what I have written but also take action that brings about God’s kingdom amongst men and women. We are dedicating this week’s episode of  The Great Exchange For Service to propel believers who love freedom to a love directed action in the place of prayer and fasting this week. We are making Leah Sharibu case as point of contacts to many that are held captive against their will, those who are oppressed, chased out from their land, people chased to the bring of self-destruction as a result of prevalence of wickedness in our society today permeating the organized church and our polity.

When society goes heartless and wickedness prevails, God always looks to His body of believers to take action by calling unto Him in humility, in prayer, in sincerity seeking and searching for His face, after repenting and turning from their wickedness, God responds by bringing healing to the land.  It is obvious our government are helpless to the challenges posed by the lawlessness in the land. The government itself is not free of lawless men and women.

We can close our eyes to non-performance of government establishment to cub the surge of insurgency but what is worse and wicked is the Nonchalant attitude of the body of believers who go about business as usual in local and international assembles wishing that the problem will just go away while we bury are heads like Ostriches in the sand of foolishness.  It is time for a united action by all body of believers to turn the tide of wickedness, to push back the kingdom of darkness that wants t superimpose itself over the kingdom of God. It is not time to work as individual believers but corporate, united believers praying in unity. In the place of prayer, God provides a strategy to win the battle. In Jehoshaphat case, it was just singing that did the job but we can’t put God, in a box.

We have no choice put to do something. Who are those 7000 who have not bowed to Baal in our midst? Who are those who do not bow to money and all the things that we worship besides or above God? Read this, meditate and by all means, join the UNITED action to change the tide…

“The power of the wicked is always enhanced by the timidity and indecision of the righteous”, observed Sir Winston Spencer Churchill.. Think of these crimes:

  1. A few very corrupt Pharisees managed to organize the masses to rise against Jesus Christ of Nazareth, a man who had performed so many good deeds including feeding 5,000 people, healing the sick, raising the dead. Where were the good people that had witnessed and probably benefited from all these miracles when the mob rose against Jesus?
  2. Adolf Hitler: How did he manage to kill six million Jews right in the midst of all churches and religious people? What were the righteous doing?
  3. Idi Amin in Uganda: How did he succeed to terrorize his own people for years. How did he succeed to get away with such crimes against humanity and even succeeded to evade justice till his death?
  4. Rwanda: over one million people were mercilessly massacred. Church leaders were there, watching. The international community sent planes to rescue their own and remained at a distance, in air conditioned boardrooms, drinking coffee and issuing statements from a distance…
  5. Apartheid and Racism: How did such an evil system survive so many decades in a civilized world that has all the human rights organizations, including the international mother body, UN? Why did the rest of the world choose to look the other way, whilst the likes of Steve Biko were being mercilessly murdered? Worse of all, some Church organization and leaders participate in it as well
  6. Cashgate: It is believed this evil has been in our midst for more than decade. How did we allow billions of our taxes systematically looted whilst the rest of the innocent people, some of them, church elders and leaders chose to look the other way, not wanting to interfere? Or worse of all, encourage and participate in the crime?
  7. Leah Sharibu, Chibok girls, innocent people killed by Boko Haram, unidentified gunmen and suspected Fulani herdsmen:: There are so many righteous and good people who know what exactly is happening in the dark. But they, just as the good people during the crucification of Jesus Christ, during the massacre of the 6 million Jews, during the terrible times of Idi Amin, the genocide in Rwanda, the evils of apartheid and racism, cashgate, they have all chosen to look the other side. They have convinced themselves “it is not my business”… now I know why darkness prevails over light.

Now we have a chance to do something or do nothing, remain in our paneled houses and wish it will never touch us or our loved ones.

It is time to do something by calling on no one else but the God who created the wicked ones that are tormenting the righteous. Saul of tarsus tried it and he encountered Christ, wrote the books of Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Ephesians and others. The same God can make Boko Haram a tool in His hand to do righteous deeds, it is not our job to curse but to bless them and  call God to action in the place of prayer and fasting. God loves those in Boko Haram organization but hates what they do. Our job is to call Him to action to do what is deemed right in the seeming darkness covering the land.

Dear brethren, what an awesome privilege to write to you on the subject of intimacy with our Heavenly Father in four (4) series and how this relates to intercession. Today, we are exploring how crucially important it is for us, called as intercessors to keep the unity of the Spirit. In fact, it is absolutely impossible to get into and remain in intimacy with our Heavenly Father if there is no bond of peace with fellow believers. When I say believers, I mean believers not defined by same church assembly, ministry or doctrinal agreement  but believers all over the world. We cannot be effective in the place of intercession until we remove the vail of denominational affiliation, doctrinal or ministry mindset from our minds. It is hindering soul winning which is the core of our call because no intelligent  unbeliever, seeing what is happening amongst believers today will want to join such association. 
The Lord revealed to me twelve (12) years ago that our church organizations are tearing His bride apart with a vivid picture of Himself all divided and appended to these body parts are church organizations as we know them today. This terrible disunity accounts for the powerlessness in miracle crumbs, absence of fruitfulness, greed, pride, epileptic growth and myriads of other unexplainable abnormalities amongst us believers today.
Paul Brand and Philip Yancey in their book, Fearfully and Wonderfully  Made, gave a vivid account of this stinking sickness as it relate to the human body.. 

“USING THE ANALOGY OF THE HUMAN BODY,there are some diseases that can spread infection throughout the body of Christ. The mind can become swollen with pride. The heart can grow cold and indifferent because of sin. The digestive system can get clogged by sterile theory and unapplied theology, so the body can’t digest what needs to be turned into energy or eliminate what needs to be released. When that occurs we start to fight among ourselves unable to stay balanced. . . .Sometimes a dreaded thing occurs in the body-a mutiny-resulting in a tumor. . . .

A tumor is called benign if its effect is fairly localized and it stays within membrane boundaries. But the most traumatizing condition in the body  occurs when disloyal cells defy inhibition. They multiply without any checks on growth , spreading rapidly throughout the body, choking out normal cells. White cells, armed against foreign invaders, will not attack the body’s own mutinous cells. Physicians fear no other malfunction more deeply: it is called cancer. For still mysterious reasons, these cells-and they may be cells from the brain, liver, kidney, bone, blood, skin, or other tissues-grow wild, out of control. Each is a healthy, functioning cell, but disloyal, no longer acting in regard for the rest of the body.
Even the white cells, the dependable palace guard, can destroy the body through rebellion. Sometimes they recklessly reproduce, clogging the blood stream, overloading the lymph system, strangling the body’s normal functions-such is leukemia. 
Because I am a surgeon and not a prophet, I tremble to make the analogy between cancer in the physical body and mutiny in the spiritual body of Christ. But i must. In his warnings to the church, Jesus Christ showed no concern about the shocks and bruises His body would meet from external forces. “The gates of Hell shall not prevail against my church,” He said flatly (Matthew 16:18). He moved easily, unthreatened, among sinners and criminals. But He cried out against the kind of disloyalty that comes from within.”
Here are comments from Christ Himself to let us know how terrible the Lord views anything and anyone that divides His bride. Judgement has already started and will continue until perfection, until the wall that is tearing the bride apart crumbles, until what matters to all of us is our intimate relationship with our Heavenly Father.
Hear Jesus speaking out on disunity in His body:
1)Then the voice of the Spirit said, “This is what you have done to My church. You have defiled the purity of My bride. You have torn My beautiful bride into pieces and dismembered her. You have divided the parts of My body and put them on display. You have exalted some of the parts and scorned others. I have watched while you ridicule that which I call holy. My heart is broken. I can bear it no longer.”
2) The Lord said, “Behold, they are coming. Even now, they are approaching. Behold, My great company of apostles and prophets. (See 1 Corinthians 12:28; Ephesians 4:11–16.) Some have already begun to work among the body parts to bring healing and restoration to the bride.”
3) Jesus spoke with divine admiration, saying, “I have released the apostles of My right hand and the prophets of My left hand to the work for which I have called them. In the days to come, the things that have divided My body will be rooted up and torn down. My Spirit will demolish all that separates and all that seeks to honor one above another, for all are made by My design, and all must be honored. This is the word of the Lord. It shall be done. The structures that are man-made will be shaken and will fall. (See Hebrews 12:25–29.) My true bride, My holy bride, will come forth in all her glory.”
Let him who have ears hear what the Spirit of the living God is saying to the churches.
Prayer of intercession for the bride of Christ from my heart :- I earnestly intercede for the body of Christ today and always, represented as the bride of Christ, created in Your image and likeness and called individually by You. Lord I pray today that we will all know you intimately as the only true God and Jesus Christ whom you have sent in knowledge, in conviction and in commitment. Help us all to receive this totally with our whole being by the help Your Holy Spirit in us presents. We earnestly intercede not just for ourselves but others whom You are calling into this one body of believers, that they will come to this wonderful knowledge with total conviction and total commitment. 
Dear Holy Spirit, open our spiritual eyes, ears and heart to see, hear, perceive and accept each believer in Christ as one body of believers and that we will desist from segregating the bride of Christ into denominational or doctrinal lines instituted by men, but only by the fact that they know You totally as the only true and everlasting God and Jesus Christ, the Messiah, whom You have sent through the power and presence of Your self-same, one and only Holy Spirit in them and in us in Jesus name, amen 
In concluding, it is difficult and almost impossible for anyone in intimate relationship with Jesus to do anything to divide His body. Hence our call for intimacy with Him. Remember the words of Apostle Paul in Ephesians 4:1-6
1 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with long-suffering, bearing with one another in love,3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism;
6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

23 And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,24 “Son of man, say to her: ‘You are a land that is not cleansed or rained on in the day of indignation.’25 The conspiracy of her prophets in her midst is like a roaring lion tearing the prey; they have devoured people; they have taken treasure and precious things; they have made many widows in her midst.26 Her priests have violated My law and profaned My holy things; they have not distinguished between the holy and unholy, nor have they made known the difference between the unclean and the clean; and they have hidden their eyes from My Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them.27 Her princes in her midst are like wolves tearing the prey, to shed blood, to destroy people, and to get dishonest gain.28 Her prophets plastered them with untempered mortar, seeing false visions, and divining lies for them, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD,’ when the LORD had not spoken.29 The people of the land have used oppressions, committed robbery, and mistreated the poor and needy; and they wrongfully oppress the stranger.30 So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.31 Therefore I have poured out My indignation on them; I have consumed them with the fire of My wrath; and I have recompensed their deeds on their own heads,” says the Lord GOD.

Matthew 6:19- 26

19-21 “Don’t hoard treasure down here where it gets eaten by moths and corroded by rust or—worse!—stolen by burglars. Stockpile treasure in heaven, where it’s safe from moth and rust and burglars. It’s obvious, isn’t it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being.22-23 “Your eyes are windows into your body. If you open your eyes wide in wonder and belief, your body fills up with light. If you live squinty-eyed in greed and distrust, your body is a dank cellar. If you pull the blinds on your windows, what a dark life you will have!24 “You can’t worship two gods at once. 

Loving one god, you’ll end up hating the other. Adoration of one feeds contempt for the other. You can’t worship God and Money both.25-26 “If you decide for God, living a life of God-worship, it follows that you don’t fuss about what’s on the table at mealtimes or whether the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to him than birds.

























Dear brethren, in our last discussion, we introduced intercession as a crucial part of our service unto the Lord and as royal priest, we introduced the mechanism involved in fulfilling our priestly roles as New Testament believers. Today, we want to bring in the importance of intimacy and communion with the Father God to whom we are to plead our case. An intimate relationship is an interpersonal relationship that involves physical or emotional intimacy. What are the fruits that makes a relationship intimate?

They are KNOWLEDGE, INTERDEPENDENCE, CARE, TRUST, RESPONSIVENESS, MUTUALITY and COMMITMENT. In the Hebrew bible, FAITH is replaced with TRUST. Now we can see how it is impossible to please God without TRUST. We are to embody these fruits in our relationships. As royal priest, just like Jesus took our place, we are to take the place of the people we are sent to intercede for. It is no longer them but us. It is no longer they are wicked but we are wicked. But how can we do this delicate job that all believers are called to do without a personal, close, talking and loving relation with our Father and in an intimate way?

The issue of intimacy with Abba Father is so central and core to our Christian work and walk that we cannot afford to go without intimacy. Intimacy in relationship signifies freedom, transparency, openness, guiltlessness and heart to heart dialogue. God longs to relate with us and we need to draw and drink from His well so we can thirst no more.

The heart has to be involved completely and totally for us to have intimacy with Him in the place of intercession.

Consecration is about the heart and not about the body or the position or the doing. It is about the being and not the doing. I can be a priest at head not at heart. I can be in God’s presence with my body, going through all the motions of a dedicated and committed servant but not with my heart. God looks upon my heart and not upon my body or my position when I come into His presence to pray and intercede. If you get into praying position, make sure you are in total surrender at heart borrowing the word from Lara George’s song as attached.

So, how do i then get focused on Him so I don’t have my mind dotting from one issue to the other? Listening to praise and worship songs helps. We have also included a prayer format here under to help clear the dirt, just like David as he opens himself to the Lord. We have expanded it to cover other areas and you can expand on this as well or come up with what works for you.

Entry Prayer Format: 

“Lord Jesus, I quiet myself in Your presence today. Please cleanse me of anything that would hinder my intimacy and communion with You. I desire a pure heart and unselfish motives. I know that my heart is deceptive and wicked, and I am no different from King David or any other man. (Jeremiah 17:9)”You know the hidden things, and nothing is concealed from Your view. My prayer today is the same as David’s. Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my anxious thoughts; and see if there be any hurtful way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way. ( Psalm 139:23-24)

Holy Spirit of the living God, expose my sins, my hidden fears, my concerns, my apprehensions and my struggles and strengthen me to think, seek and do those things that bring honor and glory to your name, oh Lord God.”There are so many fears that I struggle with,

Lord,” “I admit : fear of failure, poverty, shame, sickness, death, rejection, and criticism all harass me.  Insecurity seems to continually haunt me and compel me to search for my true identity. Lord, only You have the answer to my dilemma.

In Dr. Dale A. Fife ‘s book – The secret place, Jesus desire for intimacy with Him is here under highlighted during Dale’s encounter with the Lord. We can learn, meditate and apply from these instructions as we align ourselves and desires with His in The Great Exchange For Service in Jesus name, amen. We cannot do without intimacy and communion.

Here under are twenty (20) direct messages from the Lord to the body of Christ. They are more but we will work with 20 for now – Pay attention, meditate and apply. As we said in the last series, we will begin to see, hear and engage our Heavenly Father like we have never done before if we are will to stoop in His presence for what touches the kingdom:

1)  “Only those who truly thirst will be satisfied from the depths of My revelation.”

2) “So many of My people have tasted only the top of the well. My son, don’t be like those who come only to have their thirst quenched for the moment. Draw deep! Come further down into the depths of My Heart. I invite you to draw upon Me. Yes, make a demand upon My resources, My anointing, and My revelation.

3) “Do you see all of these plants and trees that grow by the well?” He asked. “There are many varieties of vegetation -trees, creeping vines, and tall grass. Weeds have also grown up, and briars and thistles have made access to Me very difficult where it was once simple. All these different growths are the result of disobedience. They have been planted here and nurtured by those who have tasted of My revelation, then used it for their personal gain. Acts 20: 28-30

4) “Inquire of Me! This is what Moses did as we spent days together on the mountain. Exodus 24:12-18 this is what My Son did as He walked the earth. John 5:19

5)  The Lord says : “Those who come to draw from the well of My presence are like many different vessels. Each life has been fashioned by Me. Isaiah 64:8 . I have designed every individual expressly to carry My anointing, and to fulfill a unique purpose. When his life is filled with the living water of My Spirit, he is empowered to accomplish My will for his life.

6)  “Do not allow your soul and spirit to be polluted by this world’s distractions,” He said lovingly. “Do not let desires of the flesh tempt you to settle at the present level of revelation you have received. My desire is for you, and others whom I have called, to be open channels through which My truth can flow. Open your heart to Me. It is not a question of your being usable to Me. It is a question of how much you are yielded , obedient ,and intimate with me.

7)  “In the Garden, Adam and Eve walked with Me. We had fellowship, and our walks together in the cool of the day gave great joy to Me. But they chose knowledge over intimacy. Then came Enoch. He was one of the few who chose intimacy rather than insight. His heart was pure. Noah was also close to Me in a time when all men’s heart were corrupt. Moses, My servant, chose Me out of his weakness Exodus 33:12-15. Elijah was one who desired communion with Me and knew how to drink of the well of My presence. Like Moses, he did not want to go on in life if I did not accompany him.

8) “On the Mount of Transfiguration, Moses and Elijah appeared with Me. Their relationship with Me uniquely qualified them to be there. The glory of My presence and the joy of intimacy with Me were their heart-cry. They represented the law and the prophets, which both speak of closeness with me.  The law leads to Me, and the prophetic anointing draws mankind to Me.

“Do you see that the revelation from the well of My presence is meant to draw all mankind to Me? The Holy Spirit’s work is to reveal Me! That is why you must come into My presence, spirit to Spirit. Those whom I use the most understand this simple truth. Give me your heart and your devotion. Give me your attention and your ear. Let us be lovers and friends, Eternity awaits us. Even the angels desire, but cannot have, what only My bride and I will enjoy.

9) “You must choose whether you will be like those who come only for truth and revelation, or those who come primarily to be with Me. If you choose Me, then indeed, life-giving truth, soul-saving power, dunamis power will be released as you draw from the well of My presence.

10) “It is out of sweet communion in the well of My presence that life flows – not in the truth itself. Truth sets you free, but My presence gives you life. Only as you abide in Me do you have life.” He paused and breathed deeply. “Choose life.” He sighed, paused again and whispered a final plea. “Choose intimacy with Me.”

11) “The white horse represents My Spirit. You must trust My Spirit to carry you where I want to take you. There are no reins, because if there were, you would attempt to steer. You must trust the Spirit. You need to be abandoned to Me and trust Me. You have always felt the need to be in control. I am calling you to release control to Me.

12) “Those who yield to My Spirit walk in an anointing that enables them to live without manipulating their circumstances and lead without controlling other people. They are Spirit led. True spiritual authority flows out of submission and obedience to Me. When you take the reins, you put control in your hands,and your mind and flesh take over. When I am in control, the your thoughts and actions are inspired and graced by Me.”

13) ” The different locations along the beach are the situations of life in which you find yourself. I desire to move you into new places and introduce you to new things. My will is to break the tendency you have to be comfortable and to dwell in the familiar. If you will yield to My Spirit, you will move with ease and joy into the new situations and experiences that I have planned for you. I want to set you free. Where My Spirit is, there is liberty 2 Corinthians 3:17

14) “You must allow Me to give you the ability of multiple focus. I am a big God, but when you seek to control the reins, you limit your ability  to embrace a greater dimension of My revelation. Trust Me! Trust My Holy Spirit. Each day will bring new opportunities and new environment of My revelation.”

15) “Let My Holy Spirit teach you. John 14:26, 16:13. Allow Him to lead you where I have instructed Him to take you. There are many things that you must learn; and if you take control and try to steer, you will miss the paths of revelation I have ordered for you. This will cause you to lose precious time . You will have to bactrack to make up for your lack of understanding because you missed the path.”

16) Jesus began to speak to me. “My son, I had to bring you into the darkness of this place, because the path of My purpose takes you through the darkness. It is My presence that gives you light within the darkness. Psalm 18:28; 139:11-12.

18) “This place is called the Forest of Deception. Many of My children have come here. Some of them have forsaken Me in this darkness, and have become lost. They were deceived, despite the fact that they are My elect and chosen ones. They thought that the source of light came from within themselves, and they believed that they could find their own way through the forest. Matthew 6:23. They struck off on their own. Drawn away into intellect, and the realm of the knowledge of good and evil, they have pursued the paths of man’s ideas and philosophies and have wandered away from intimacy and closeness to Me. Colossians 2:1-8. They no longer walk in my light. Like Adam and Eve, they have tasted of this same deception and have separated themselves from the light of My presence. “Here in the Forest of Deception, many dwelling places have been fashioned by the hands of men. If you search, you may even find the first one. You call it the “Tower to heaven,’ but I have cursed it, and I call it ‘Babel.’ Genesis 11:1-9. You see, I had to bring confusion, and I will always confound the communication of those who are deceived, who think that they can find the way into My presence by their own efforts.”

19) You see, My son, the greatest danger is that truth grows here in the Forest of Deception. 2 Corinthians 11:1-4. There is enough truth here to deceive even the elect. This truth will destroy you if you do not realize that I am the One who reveals truth. Isaiah 53:9. Only as you see truth through My Spirit will it bring life. You must not worship the truth . You must worship Me!”. “I am the way through deception. I am the truth that is living and active. I am the Truth-giver!

20) “Adam and Eve searched for truth apart from Me. They sacrificed intimacy with Me for knowledge. They had to hide from Me once they chose to eat the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge . When you choose Me, there is no need to hide. Everything is transparent and open.”


How then does all of the above 20 live giving words  have to do with The Great Exchange For Service for which the church, the body of Christ have been called to be and execute? Why has this not taken deep root in countless places despite relentless and selfless toil from some of the saints? 

The history of the church brings us the tragic, recurring story of repeated, spiritual treason by religious establishment. Virtually every church or religious movement begins with dedicated people who give the total of their spiritual and material powers, even unto death, to advance the kingdom of Christ in The Great Exchange For Service. Then,  the classic story unfolds. Dedication produces success, and success, prosperity. Prosperity then inevitably diminishes spiritual fervor, and the hand of the blessing of God is lifted from a once fruitful effort. Is this not the precise story of the last of the seven churches of revelation?

How do we navigate the Forest of Deception Jesus mentioned in the discuss above? 

Jesus said, ” whenever there is sin in your heart, you are susceptible to the dangers of deception . James 1:14-15. Sin makes you vulnerable to the lies of the enemy. Hidden sin, especially pride, will quickly destroy you here in this place. Pride leads to deception and darkness. This is why the very elect could be lost and hopelessly confused here in the Forest of Deception, and never find their way out. “It is very important that when My children commit sin, they quickly confess to Me, lest they fall into deception and become lost in the darkness of the forest,” Jesus emphasized

We must seek His face, and only His face, and do so with a pure heart. Credible, effective and enduring Intercession finds its place in the place of intimacy and communion. There we find God’s desires, plans and mind concerning the petitions we bring. Seek His face and not His hands today.

Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

31-33 So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose? If God didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son, is there anything else he wouldn’t gladly and freely do for us? And who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of God’s chosen? Who would dare even to point a finger? The One who died for us—who was raised to life for us!—is in the presence of God at this very moment sticking up for us. Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ’s love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not even the worst sins listed in Scripture:


*Acceptable Service*  _unto the Lord is birthed in prayer, sustained in prayer and completed in prayer for the services to be acceptable sacrifice unto the Lord because effective prayer is prayer that engaging the Father in conversation and the mind of God is prayed and deployed in acceptable service that brings down God’s will and kingdom agenda in our sphere(place, people or think)._

Our services as *kingdom agent* is usually towards people (friends and for) just like Abraham was called to be a father of *MANY NATIONS and a BLESSING* to nations not just to himself but to all nations,  *Joseph* was used by God to deliver human race from famine that would have obliterated humanity,  Moses was sent to deliver the children of Israel from slavery and usher them into the promised land and Jesus came to deliver mankind from the darkness.
*Prayer of intercession* is a critical part of service and we must all be ready and willing to prevail in prayer to birth, sustain and complete the service.

*While we ordinarily first bring our own needs to God in prayer, and then think of what belongs to God and His interests, the Master reverses the order.  First,  Thy  name,  Thy  kingdom,  Thy  will; then, give us,  forgive  us, lead  us,  deliver us. Worship  of the Father must be first, must be all.*

  The sooner I learn to forget myself in the *desire* that HE may be glorified, the richer will the blessing be that prayer will bring to myself and others I am interceding for.  No one ever loses by what he sacrifices for the Father. This must influence all our prayer.*

There are two sorts of prayer:  *personal and intercessory.*  The latter ordinarily occupies the lesser part of our time and energy.  This must not be.

We have done too much of personal prayer,  we want to to focus on selfless prayer in this series of the GREAT exchange for SERVICE. At the end of these series,  you will begin to hear God, you will begin to see things,  you will begin to love where you has difficult to and you will begin to see answers to prayers because you praying in the pattern of heaven.

So who do we pray for, how do we pray and what d we pray for as priest in God’s kingdom?

We can break these into 5 Who(s). As follows:

List of *people, places or things* to pray in the place of intercession

*1) Who has recently stop being a believer, or backsliden or stop believing?*

*2) Who can you have coffee or tea or go to eat with or easily engage with who has an issue or does not know God?*

*3) Who is it that could be difficult to be a believer?*

*4) Who is our immediate Neigbour who do not believe?*

*5) Who share your interest, who are  your connectors , people that are easy to connect with that do not know God or have an issue requiring God’s intervene?*


As a priest,  I will present them to God asking for God’s name to be hallowed , God’s Kingdom To manifest,  God’s will To be done in their lives.

I must Know and realise deep down that I am first and foremost a priest in God’s kingdom. In doing so,  God gives life so I must bless not curse. I am not a disciple of satan. Let God take care of the cursing part. Jesus said I should bless even my enemies.

*1 Peter 2:4-10*

4 Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious,
5 you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a *holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.*
6 Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture, “Behold, I lay in Zion A chief cornerstone, elect, precious, And he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame.”
7 Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient, “The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone,”
8 and “A stone of stumbling And a rock of offense.” They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed.
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.

So How do I present these?

*Facing God,*  I present the WHO and I thank God for that WHO present the situation as it is.  Asking that is name,  kingdom and will be done.  If the person is sick,  I bring the scripture relevant into focus and agree with that scripture. I then thank God and get into listening mode to see what God will say to me concerning the people.  He might give me more content for the person,  the place or the thing.

*Facing the person, place or thing and bringing into focus.*  I then begin to speak God’s desire for His name,  kingdom and will in that person,  place or thing. Any additional revelation the Lord gives,  me,  I add to it.  I go like this.  ” Who so,  so and so,  I call forth the name , the kingdom and the will upon your life.  I declare that you are healed,  restored and made who. ” etc depending on circumstances.  I don’t stop until the Lord says stop or a new content is provided.
We can do this for not just a person but a country,  a nation,  a home a place or thing.

*Author Spotlight : Andrew Murray*

*Andrew Murray (9 May 1828 – 18 January 1917) was a South African writer, teacher and Christian pastor. Murray considered missions to be “the chief end of the church”*

Andrew Murray was the second child of Andrew Murray Sr. (1794–1866), a Dutch Reformed Church missionary sent from Scotland to South Africa. He was born in Graaff Reinet, South Africa. His mother, Maria Susanna Stegmann, was of French Huguenot and German Lutheran descent.

Murray was sent to Aberdeen in Scotland for his initial education, together with his elder brother, John. Both remained there until they obtained their master’s degrees in 1845. From there, they both went to the University of Utrecht where they studied theology. The two brothers became members of Het Réveil, a religious revival movement opposed to the rationalism which was in vogue in the Netherlands at that time. Both brothers were ordained by the Hague Committee of the Dutch Reformed Church on 9 May 1848 and returned to the Cape.

Murray married Emma Rutherford in Cape Town, South Africa, on 2 July 1856. They had eight children together (four boys and four girls).

Murray pastored churches in Bloemfontein, Worcester, Cape Town and Wellington, all in South Africa. He was a champion of the South African Revival of 1860.

*In 1889, he was one of the founders of the South African General Mission (SAGM), along with Martha Osborn and Spencer Walton. After Martha Osborn married George Howe, they formed the South East Africa General Mission (SEAGM) in 1891. SAGM and SEAGM merged in 1894. Because its ministry had spread into other African countries, the mission’s name was changed to Africa Evangelical Fellowship (AEF) in 1965. AEF joined with Serving In Mission (SIM) in 1998 and continues to this day.*

Through his writings, Murray was also a key “Inner Life” or “Higher Life” or Keswick leader, and his theology of faith healing and belief in the continuation of the apostolic gifts made him a significant forerunner of the Pentecostal movement.

John 21:25 – Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.

Author Spotlight: Who Is Watchman Nee?




























In the last couple of months, we have laid the foundation for “the great exchange for service” so that you can begin to explore and make yourself available for selfless service for the expansion of the kingdom of God here on earth. In the coming months, we shall be bringing to you those who have done exploits in the kingdom. Books were written and some are available on, on http://www.otakada.organd other sources to help you build on your own with the help of those who have gone ahead of you and me.

I have never seen a doctor that has stopped reading that is effective or a nurse, a preacher, evangelist, prophet, an architect or a teacher. Even Jesus read from the books about His call. How then can we become effective in our race in the kingdom without giving ourselves to study? I encourage you to prayerfully investigate the areas of calling, look for books written by God’s messengers who have traveled that route and see how you will begin to be effective in the area of your call. Today, we are looking at Watchman NEE who touched China with selfless service for the kingdom.

Do you want to grow, then begin reading books on the Greats of bible and the messengers like Watchman Nee, Witness Lee, Billy Graham, Robert Liardon, Joyce Meyer, T.D – Jakes, Lambert Okafor of Holy Ghost School and a host of others who have touched lives. They are not perfect, only God is. But they have something written that we will do well to learn for effectiveness in the place of our calling. You have a call and I have one.

What would you want to be remembered for? What would you exchange your life for? Pray about it, find it, read on it and start doing it. That is your exchange for service.

The backdrop to Watchman Nee’s testimony

There are over 115million Christians in China today and are more  as most are underground. Christianity first reached China in the 7th century AD, brought by Nestorian Eastern Syriac believers. Roman Catholic missionaries arrived in the 13th century and in the early 1300s there was even briefly a Franciscan archbishop in Peking.  but did not take root until it was reintroduced in the 16th century by Jesuit missionaries. Today, it comprises CatholicsProtestantsEvangelicals and a small number of Orthodox Christians.

Starting in the early 1800s, God put a calling into the hearts of many Western Christians to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to China again. Through much sacrifice, these missionaries gave themselves to preach the gospel in a place where it hadn’t gone before. As a result, slowly but surely, people who had previously never heard the name of Jesus were brought to Christ the Savior.

Then in 1900 during the violence and upheaval of the Boxer Rebellion, Chinese believers were persecuted and martyred. Many missionaries were also killed. In the aftermath of such sacrifice and loss, Christians in the West persevered in their burden for China and continued to offer up fervent prayers for its people.

In the 1920s, the Lord answered these prayers and began to call young people to Himself in China. The gospel reached the educated circles, and many college students were brought to Christ. One hundred years of missionary work and sacrifice, followed by years of desperate prayer, had paved the way for the Lord to raise up a whole generation of young Chinese Christians. It was from among that generation that the Lord called Watchman Nee.

Watchman Nee’s salvation

Watchman Nee was born into a Christian home in China, but he hadn’t received Christ as his Savior. As an educated young man, he considered Christian preaching to be the lowest occupation on earth. He was very intelligent, very capable, and had big plans for his future.

In 1920, when he was 17 years old, Watchman Nee attended his parents’ church where a well-known evangelist came to preach the gospel. Many in the congregation believed in the Lord and were saved right then. But Watchman Nee was not, for though he was moved by the gospel, he also realized that if he received Christ as his Savior, that meant he would also receive Christ as his Lord and serve Him for the rest of his life.

For a young man with such capacity and such dreams as Nee, this realization created great inner turmoil. Not long after hearing the gospel preached that day, however, Nee was alone in his room and recognized that he had no peace. Troubled, he was unable to sleep, so he knelt down to pray. One after another, his sins came before him. He saw that he was a sinner. He also saw a wounded Savior on the cross, with open arms waiting to receive him.

Overwhelmed by such love, Nee wept. He confessed his sinfulness to the Lord and immediately felt the burden of sin lifted. For the first time in his life he felt real peace and joy. His immediate and willing response was to consecrate himself to the Lord for His service for the rest of his life.

Watchman Nee’s testimony

After his salvation, Watchman Nee immediately sought to know the Lord Jesus in the Word of God and through classic Christian books and the spiritual writings of other believers. He read voraciously and, blessed with a keen mind, was able to remember what he read. In a short time, he himself began to write on matters of the Christian life in magazines, tracts, and books. He also translated important Christian works from English into Chinese for others to benefit from.

In addition to carrying out his ministry through writing and publishing, Nee also gave spoken messages in various places in China. In 1938 he gave messages in Europe that eventually were published as The Normal Christian Life.

Nee was manifested as a particular gift from God to the Body of Christ, ministering from the Word in a country that had long been deprived of not only the basic truths in the Bible, but also the deeper truths revealed in God’s Word. Through his ministry, the Lord raised up hundreds of believers and churches in China. Not only so, countless other believers have received light and spiritual nourishment from God’s Word through Nee’s written ministry. Even now, the writings of Watchman Nee continue to have great impact on Christians all over the world.

Nee was arrested by the Chinese government for his faith in 1952. He remained imprisoned for 20 years, steadfast in his faith until his death in a labor camp in 1972. In 2009, the United States Congress recognized Neefor his devotion to his faith and his contributions to Christianity worldwide.

After Nee’s death, a guard found these words he’d written on a piece of paper in his room:

“Christ is the Son of God who died for the redemption of sinners and resurrected after three days. This is the greatest truth in the universe. I die because of my belief in Christ.”


If Karl Marx is to be believed and religion is the “opiate of the masses,” then China is waging a new opium war. Threatened by the rapid, uncontrolled growth of Christianity, the Communist Party is gearing up for a sweeping crackdown.

Although China is officially an atheist nation, Protestant Christianity is thriving. According to some estimates, there are as many as 115 million Protestants in China, and it is one of the fastest growing demographics in the country. One analyst predicts that by 2030, China will have more than 247 million Christians, including Catholics, making it the world’s largest congregation.

But much to the authoritarian government’s chagrin, the overwhelming majority of this booming cohort of Chinese Christians are meeting in underground churches. Only state-sanctioned religious organizations are allowed to operate in China, and official churches are closely watched.

In recent years, many state-sanctioned churches have been forced to install surveillance cameras, and preachers, selected by the government, are monitored to ensure that their sermons do not broach taboo topics.

“They want the pastor to preach in a Communist way. They want to train people to practice in a Communist way,” said an underground church leader, who spoke anonymously to the Telegraph.

The preacher explained that state churches often avoid potentially subversive portions of the Bible. For instance, the Old Testament book that tells the story of Daniel, who is exiled and refuses to worship the king as he is ordered and instead worships God, is “very dangerous.”

Preachers have also been pressured to show their loyalty to the Communist Party and have taken to praising President Xi Jinping and incorporating party propaganda into their sermons.

It is these heavy-handed tactics that have made many Chinese Christians turn to underground churches. According to Yang Fenggang, a professor of sociology at Purdue University, of China’s estimated 93 to 115 million Christians, less than 30 million attend official churches.

This disparity has caught the attention of state officials, and earlier this month new regulations aimed at curbing non-state sanctioned houses of worship were passed.

The new law has taken effect in February 2, 2018 and is imposing heavy fines on organizers of unofficial religious events and prohibit them from carrying out basic functions like receiving donations, providing religious information online, or teaching children.

Wang Zuoan, head of the State Administration for Religious Affairs, explained that the new law was necessary because “the foreign use of religion to infiltrate [China] intensifies by the day and religious extremist thought is spreading in some areas.”


CONCLUSION – There is no success without a successor. Next week, we shall be introducing Witness Lee who took over from where Watchman Nee ended. Watchman Nee mentored Witness Lee. Remember, Life is for learning and the learning is for life from books, people, self and of-course from the spirit of the living God.

Brethren, in the series on “the great exchange for service,” this last topic crown it all. The question of our BEING and our DOING. What comes first? Who we are or What we do? The correct answer to this question will aid our acceleration and speed to maturity as our rubber hits the road of our Christian race, this is where God defines whose are His and whose are of the devil and eventually our aboard in eternity.

In addressing proper positioning for service with the question of being and doing, We will explore ten (10) scriptures to give clarity. We will talk a bit on doctrine, importance of personal study, and self-examination or testing with the help of the Holy Spirit to look ourselves at the mirror and have the Holy Spirit play back to us our true self so that we can yield to His transforming power in our lives. We will also look the maturing process and how it ties into service. On self-confrontation or self-examination, I did this some time ago and was shocked at the rubbish I was still carrying which has helped me to yield to the slow and steady transforming work of the Holy Spirit. There are 202 images or vices to look at. *The Great Exchange for Service* :- *_I must Cut Myself Loose of every weight_*

We mentioned in our earlier writings that when we ask God to use us, He takes us through a process of preparation in His on school with the help of the Holy Spirit so that when we are deployed to the place of assignment, we will be relevant and ready to be effect agents of transformation in the hands of the master for good works.

Let’s explore a few scriptures to help put things in proper order :

*Hebrew 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.*

_Pressing toward the Goal_
_12 I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. 13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it,[a] but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us._


_John 14:26 when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative–that is, the Holy Spirit–he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you._

The Holy Spirit is going to be the teacher, the examiner, the adviser, the reminder and when it really gets though, He takes on the role of a the comforter.

90% of the work of preparation for Service will be within us, the Mrs flesh and 10% will be outside us. Outside us means outside the church. In the marketplace, the no go areas where we classify sinner zones. That was exactly what Jesus did and that is where our effectiveness will be evident. The church is the sharpening ground so we can go back out and show forth the praise of the one who has recruited us into the service. We must be willing to take risk in launching out. It is while we are on the way that the Holy Spirit takes over.
