Engaging God in Conversation Is Like ABC – Addiction to Well Organized Human (Self or Worldly) REASONING Drowns the Voice of the Spirit – Part 2 of 3
A Word for Today – Deliverance from Spirit of Confusion: In our confused world today, where we have reasoned and are still reasoning ourselves to more confusion, the Lord seems to be saying – “we should try not to figure everything out, BUT focus on His word, discern what He is saying and asking us to do in any and every situation that confronts us, and we will stop being confused”. In the light of eternity, our life here is a drop in the vast Ocean of eternity. This whole planet earth will be burnt up, time is ticking fast. Set aside differences, be united, let’s do everything we can to take as many souls as we can with us. We should not go back to Him empty handed for which His Son died. Satan, the devil is working overtime because he knows, his time is short. (Note: – Revelation 12:12)
Key Verses To Study, Meditate And Obey:
Main Reading: 1 Kings 19 :1-18 New Living Translation (NLT)
Elijah Flees to Sinai
19 When Ahab got home, he told Jezebel everything Elijah had done, including the way he had killed all the prophets of Baal. 2 So Jezebel sent this message to Elijah: “May the gods strike me and even kill me if by this time tomorrow I have not killed you just as you killed them.”
3 Elijah was afraid and fled for his life. He went to Beersheba, a town in Judah, and he left his servant there. 4 Then he went on alone into the wilderness, traveling all day. He sat down under a solitary broom tree and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life, for I am no better than my ancestors who have already died.”
5 Then he lay down and slept under the broom tree. But as he was sleeping, an angel touched him and told him, “Get up and eat!” 6 He looked around and there beside his head was some bread baked on hot stones and a jar of water! So he ate and drank and lay down again.
7 Then the angel of the Lord came again and touched him and said, “Get up and eat some more, or the journey ahead will be too much for you.”
8 So he got up and ate and drank, and the food gave him enough strength to travel forty days and forty nights to Mount Sinai,[a] the mountain of God. 9 There he came to a cave, where he spent the night.
The Lord Speaks to Elijah
But the Lord said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
10 Elijah replied, “I have zealously served the Lord God Almighty. But the people of Israel have broken their covenant with you, torn down your altars, and killed every one of your prophets. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me, too.”
11 “Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the Lord told him. And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire.
And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave.
And a voice said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
14 He replied again, “I have zealously served the Lord God Almighty. But the people of Israel have broken their covenant with you, torn down your altars, and killed every one of your prophets. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me, too.”
15 Then the Lord told him, “Go back the same way you came, and travel to the wilderness of Damascus. When you arrive there, anoint Hazael to be king of Aram. 16 Then anoint Jehu grandson of Nimshi[b] to be king of Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from the town of Abel-meholah to replace you as my prophet. 17 Anyone who escapes from Hazael will be killed by Jehu, and those who escape Jehu will be killed by Elisha! 18 Yet I will preserve 7,000 others in Israel who have never bowed down to Baal or kissed him!” 1 Kings 19:1-18
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Corinthians 2:14 KJV
O ye of little faith, why REASON ye among yourselves. Matthew 16:8 KJV
If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God (Who gives) to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him. Only it must be in faith that he asks with no wavering ( no hesitating, no doubting). For the one who wavers (hesitates, doubts) is like the billowing surge out at sea that is blown hither and thither and tossed by the wind. For truly, let not such a person imagine that he will receive anything (he asks for) from the Lord. (For being as he is) a man of two minds (hesitating, dubious, irresolute), (he is) unstable and unreliable and uncertain about everything (he thinks, feels, decides). James 1:5-8
Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding Proverbs 3:5
But be doers of the Word (Obey the message), and not merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves (into deception by REASONING contrary to the TRUTH) James 1:22
Questions: What are the truth you are learning from the above scriptures? If this is true, what commitments can you make to obey in keeping with the truth in the scriptures above? Who would you share these truth with and your commitment for witnessing and accountability purposes?
Introduction – God Desires to Speak to You and Me Through Many Channels BUT Addiction to Well Organized Human (Self or Worldly) REASONING Drowns the Voice of the Spirit which should spur us to Spirit directed actions.
God wants to speak to you and me. He has always desired to commune with us right from the garden of Eden until humanity sinned. Jesus came to bridge and restore that linkage. Today, ALL of us can engage in conversation with Him. We just need to learn how, just like we learn every other thing in this world.
In the first of three part series of this blog, we learnt the various ways God speaks. We mentioned the fact that there are 4 voices that communicate with us and that the one we give attention to, rules.
In this part two of three (2 of 3, we will look at impediments to hearing the voice of the spirit. We will look at the voice of Reason in our minds which comes from Self or the Surrounding or Satan.
In 1 Kings 19:1-18, Elijah reasoned with the voice of self for his personal safety, reasoned from the Surrounding circumstances saying he was alone, the only righteous man in Israel, he reasoned by input from satan through the voice of Jezebel and took off, 40 days and 40 nights running from a real and imaginary enemy.
He was so consumed with reasoning himself to suicide that God had to call to me twice and sent him back to where he was running from. Elijah gave attention that resulted in action only when he heard a still small voice realizing he has missed the plot by hundreds of miles.
What are we running from today? What has God said to us in the face of relentless attack by the agents and voices of satan? What is the voice of the Spirit we are hearing? Have we given attention to it or has fear for life taken the shine off the voice of God?
May the Lord grant us an attentive ear to hear what the spirit says to the churches in this season in Jesus name, amen.
Heavenly Father, thank You for You love us so much that you sent Your Son to us and when He left, you sent the Holy Spirit to lead us and guide us into ALL truth and more especially to the call upon our lives. Today, we stand our ground as we silence, by the authority in the name of Jesus Christ, every satanic voice through intimidation, killing and fear that has downed or is drowning the voice of the Spirit of the living God in our midst and we declare over our minds, over our land, over the storm, over Nigeria, peace be still, hear ye and give attention to the sound of a gentle whisper from our heavenly Father in Jesus name, Amen.
