This week, we are exploring 7 Indisputable, Blockbuster Relationship Connections for All-Round Success in Your Life.

We are hard-wired for relationship connection. No one is an island and how we handle our relationships with God, At Home, in small groups, in the church, in the neighborhood in our business affect our motivation and all-round success in life.

Close relationships, more than money or fame, are what keep people happy throughout their lives. The researchers have found that positive relationships protect people from the vicissitudes (Ups and Downs) of life. You are not Immuned to difficult times and you are not an island, you are part of a community, a mastermind alliance with a group of people. Close relationship also help to delay mental and physical decline. Those who kept warm relationships got to live longer and happier and the loners often died earlier. “Loneliness kills”

In Genesis 2:18 “Then the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him”

The ten commands given in Exodus 20 was all wrapped around relationships. Jesus confirms the summary in

Matthew 22:36-40 The Message (MSG)

The Most Important Command

34-36 When the Pharisees heard how he had bested the Sadducees, they gathered their forces for an assault. One of their religion scholars spoke for them, posing a question they hoped would show him up: “Teacher, which command in God’s Law is the most important?”

37-40 Jesus said, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence.’ This is the most important, the first on any list. But there is a second to set alongside it: ‘Love others as well as you love yourself.’ These two commands are pegs; everything in God’s Law and the Prophets hangs from them.”

Just remove the word LOVE and replace with RELATE and you clearly see the importance of relationship in our lives.

Now let us discover …

7 Indisputable, Blockbuster Relationship Connections for All-Round Success in Your Life!

  1. The Secret Place Connection with God – This is a blockbuster!

The connection one is our vertical connection with God, our maker. It is the ONLY blockbuster relationship connection. It is the most vital connection for all-round success. If we love, we relate. If God is the ultimate, then this is a natural fruit as a result of the love we have for Him. This is where you draw the blueprint for your life and walking it out on a daily basis. He will give you the end vision for your life but the details and the process is discovered daily in His presence. There are certain things you cannot discuss with anyone else but Him. There are burdens you carry that you can unbundle in this place in your life, in your home, in your business and elsewhere. You discover and get equipped in this place for the day. He prepares you here for the trouble of the day. Here, you develop a habit of talking to God daily, hearing from Him, praying, reading the words and making notes of areas He is drawing your attention to. This is not what the pastor said or the devotional said or the wife said or the sister or brother in church said. This is you and God. If you need help in developing this level of relationship, we are available to help you at Otakada.org. Some bible references for this level of connection are as follows: Luke 4 – Jesus in 40 day fasting, John 17, Luke 23”41, Acts 10:9-16 and so many others. Genesis 17:3 – Abram fell facedown and God said to him… or Genesis 12 where He was called. All the time God gave me specific instructions, I was alone and if you develop this daily habit, he will reveal Himself in a new dimension beyond church or fellowship attendance. It is a daily blockbuster revelation with God!

Luke 6:12 One day soon afterward Jesus went up on a mountain to pray, and he prayed to God all night

If you do not believe in God, you can initiate the process by just asking Him if He REALLY exist to reveal Himself to You and HE WILL if you are sincere and desirous to engage. Psalm 17:6 is helpful. Sometimes God initiates the process like in the case of Saul or became Paul who was persecuting the church in Acts 9:5. Start today! Make it a habit and you will experience all mighty God daily!

  • The connection with Spouse or Close Friends

At this level, you study the bible together with a close friend or Spouse, you talk to God and hear from Him and present the successes, the challenges, the failure where help is needed together with your friend or spouse. You make it habitual as well.

The Transfiguration (Matthew 17:1-9, Mark 9:2-10, Luke 9:27-36). About a week after Peter made the good confession, Jesus took Peter, James, and John up on a high mountain and was transfigured before them. He underwent a change in His appearance. “His face shone like the sun” (Matthew 17:2), and “His clothes became shining, exceedingly white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them” (Mark 9:2). For a brief moment, these three men were allowed to see the proof of Peter’s confession – that Jesus was indeed the divine Son of God.

Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Jesus about His death (Luke 9:31). In his fear and confusion, Peter suggested honoring all three men equally by building three tabernacles for them. God spoke out of the cloud, telling Peter, James, and John to listen to His Son. After the event, Jesus commanded them not to speak of it until after He had risen from the dead.

You can also read Joshua 24:15 – As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord…

  • The Connection with Family

You repeat the same this as in 1, 2 with your immediate family in your home. Discern what He is telling you from the word, dreams, visions, prophesy individually and collectively, obey and apply.

  • The Connection at Home Fellowship with other believers

You repeat the same process as in 1, 2 and 3. More often than not, you will realize that what you are hearing in 1 get reechoed in 2, 3 and 4. You will also begin to draw from the gifting available at each new level and you offer yourself to serve as well in a mastermind setting. Acts 21:8-14 in the home of Philip the Evangelist

  • The Local Church Connection

This where the sermon is delivered or group bible studies are delivered. You talk, you listen, you pray, you apply what you sense God is saying to you and to the group. You also draw form the uniqueness in the gifting available to equip you for the work of ministry and also make yourself available to serve others. Acts 4:23-37; Acts 13:2 – Paul and Barnabas called for a specific assignment. Hebrews 10:25 ..Not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit…

  • The Global Church Connection

The body of Christ is not segmented, it is one. We listen, we talk, we learn, we engage with others from outside our local assemble and apply what we sense God is leading us into. Again, there are gifting God deposits outside our local assemble so we can engage with other believers and benefit from such gifting as well. At the same time, we make ourselves available for service. Read John 17:20, Acts 9:36-42

  • The Connection with Unbelievers

Christ died to deliver all the human race. We are the instrument He uses to reach a lost world. Everywhere we go, we are connecting with people who do not know Christ and Christ has commanded us to go and make disciples of all nations. But how do we disciple people we do not connect with? Acts 10: 1- 47

We see here that God spoke to Peter at connection level one and the result played out in Acts 10:24-41. At level one, we can ask God to lead us to people whose heart He has already prepared for salvation.

Acts 17:16-34 New International Version (NIV)

In Athens

16 While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, he was greatly distressed to see that the city was full of idols. 17 So he reasoned in the synagogue with both Jews and God-fearing Greeks, as well as in the marketplace day by day with those who happened to be there. 18 A group of Epicurean and Stoic philosophers began to debate with him. Some of them asked, “What is this babbler trying to say?” Others remarked, “He seems to be advocating foreign gods.” They said this because Paul was preaching the good news about Jesus and the resurrection. 19 Then they took him and brought him to a meeting of the Areopagus, where they said to him, “May we know what this new teaching is that you are presenting? 20 You are bringing some strange ideas to our ears, and we would like to know what they mean.” 21 (All the Athenians and the foreigners who lived there spent their time doing nothing but talking about and listening to the latest ideas.)

22 Paul then stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus and said: “People of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious. 23 For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: to an unknown god. So you are ignorant of the very thing you worship—and this is what I am going to proclaim to you.

24 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. 25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. 26 From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27 God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. 28 ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’[a] As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’[b]

29 “Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by human design and skill. 30 In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. 31 For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.”

32 When they heard about the resurrection of the dead, some of them sneered, but others said, “We want to hear you again on this subject.” 33 At that, Paul left the Council. 34 Some of the people became followers of Paul and believed. Among them was Dionysius, a member of the Areopagus, also a woman named Damaris, and a number of others.

Questions for discussion, reflection, application and distribution to others who need it:

  1. What did you learn today on the 7 connections?
  2. What changes will you make and when?
  3. Who would you share this information with that you know needs it and when will you share?

In conclusion,

Most of our struggles in life emanate from the fact that we ignore one, two, three, four, five, six or the seventh connections God has designed for our life’s journey. Sometimes we are so concerned for others that we forget that we need the connection one to succeed in the other connections. May the Lord give us a discerning, willing and obedient heart to make a necessary amends for all-round success today in Jesus name, Amen
