Genesis – Rediscovering God Afresh Paperback Edition by Chinedu Oranye
“I am a restless pilgrim, hungering for more of God.”
Beyond the superficial experiences in regulated, organized
church, there is more of God to encounter. God is deep. God is real. God is available. For the hungry heart, God is waiting to meet with you at a deeper level. As St. Bernard would say, “We taste Thee, O Thou Living Bread, And long to feast upon Thee still: We drink of Thee, the Fountainhead And thirst our souls from Thee to fill.”
GENESIS, rediscovering God afresh is a product of my hunger and experience of God in my devotional times. Many years ago, I felt the Lord nudging me to keep track of His dealings with me and revelations to me in Scriptures. And as I started growing in this discipline, it became apparent that what God was showing me in those quiet moments were not just for me, but also for a larger audience in His Church. I began to sense that God wanted me to share some of these truths with His Body, and many of the burdens and insights I received from God became topics for my itinerant teaching ministries as well as content for the Restless Pilgrim Devotional (RPD) Series. This book is from that Series.
This particular devotional takes you back into the heart of the beginnings of God’s programs and interfaces with Man. The devotion will take you on a journey of discovery and wonder, as you watch the acts of God and the deeds of men, interplay and interact – churning up spiritual lessons for the hungry soul to ponder on and pray about. These are first of all, God’s words to me and if you don’t feel they apply to you, kindly disregard. However, my candid counsel will be to read the devotions for each day very meditatively and use the prayers for each day as a guide to the deeper prayers you need to make.
St. Augustine said of God, “Thou has formed us for Thyself, and our hearts are restless till they find rest in Thee.” May our hearts re- main restless from the vanity and empty distractions of our generation, and may we find our rest only in God our Creator, for whom we were created and for which reason Christ came to redeem us.
My prayer is that this simple devotion may ignite in you, a fresh desire and a new experience in discovering God.
