He has given only one gift to meet our need, His Son Christ Jesus.” ― Watchman Nee, The Normal Christian Life “Some people have a warped idea of living the Christian life. Seeing talented, successful Christians, they attempt to imitate them. For them, the grass on the other side of the fence is always greener. But when they discover that their own gifts are different or their contributions are more modest (or even invisible), they collapse in discouragement and overlook genuine opportunities that are open to them. They have forgotten that they are here to serve Christ, not themselves.” ― Billy Graham, Hope for Each Day: Words of Wisdom and Faith “We face a humanity that is too precious to neglect. We know a remedy for the ills of the world too wonderful to withhold. We have a Christ too glorious to hide. We have an adventure that is too thrilling to miss.” — Theodore Williams of India Key verses for Today: Matthew 28:18-20 Amplified Bible (AMP) 18 Jesus came up and said to them, “All authority (all power of absolute rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.” Introduction The Christian Church: Clueless – Go Make Disciples – Marketplace Discipleship – Application of 4 Practical Steps that can unbundle God’s Glory in Your Industry and disciple your industry with ease – Part 11 of 12 – Dear brethren, welcome to the eleventh series on the Christian church – Go make disciples. Marketplace discipleship is key today because that is where we gathered to engage in our daily activity. Today, we exploring four steps that you and I can apply to any industry that can unbundle God’s glory in that industry and provide opportunity for discipleship. We will also replay two videos, one of Darren Shearer who shares the importance of setting biblical standards for businesses and discipleship in the marketplace by applying our spiritual gifts to the industry and another video of Idris Jala of Pemandu, a Malaysian professed Christian who uses lessons from the bible and spiritual gifts to turnaround troubled business and government institution worldwide watch video via this link https://youtu.be/9FJTd3wJapI – Your life, my life and everything and everyone around us are our mission fields. Don’t ever settle to the mindset that when you are out of your immediate environment, then mission field happens. Mission field is right in your home, your immediate environment, your work place, your trip to places you have been and seen, our struggle and victories through lives up and downs and how we are able to keep our heads above water, through it all by His grace. Mission field is essentially borderless…. Application of 4 Practical Steps that can unbundle God’s Glory in Your Industry and disciple your industry with is Although the Academy Awards ceremony, The Oscars, is usually an entertaining show for any movie-goer, the ceremony does not exist primarily for the enjoyment of movie-goers. Rather, it is an annual opportunity for the members of the film industry to honor those among their peers who they feel have made the greatest contributions to their industry. Each Academy Award nomination is a vote to shape the culture of the film industry, which then affects the broader cultures of nations. In the Great Commission, Jesus commanded us to “make disciples of all nations” (Matt. 28:19), not individuals only. Making disciples of nations means helping nations to reflect the glorious image of Jesus. As part of our mandate to disciple entire nations, marketplace Christians are responsible for discipling entire industries, ultimately causing them to reflect the glorious image of Jesus in the marketplace. Business industries wield more control over the overall cultures of nations than any other human institution. If we don’t disciple our industries, they will be discipled by people who have godless value systems. This is especially true in the United States and Europe where the religion of Secular Humanism currently dominates many industries. Secular Humanism attempts to replace God and His Kingdom with cleverly-marketed, godless worldviews. How would you describe the prevailing culture of your industry? In other words… What are the worldviews of the industry’s leaders? What are the ethical norms? What gets celebrated in your industry? How are the customers treated? How is your industry perceived by the public? What are the dominant beliefs concerning politics, religion, etc.? Are you actively shaping the culture of your industry? In other words, how are you helping your industry to reflect the glorious image of Jesus Christ? Here are four steps to discipling your industry. Step #1 – Apply Your Spiritual Gifts in Your Industry Your

Is it the crisis of spiritual consumerism, carnality, prayerlessness, leadership or all of the above? The greatest crisis is that we cannot see the crisis! We cannot define the very terms of discipleship Jesus has given us: “If any man come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily and follow me.’ (Luke 9:23). If you are trying to understand why it doesn’t work, learn the fundamental principles by which the lordship of Jesus and the dynamic Kingdom life of discipleship can be realized in your life and in your church. There’s a truth, a fundamental call, a spiritual dynamic that will change your life and your church! ” – Rev. Edmund Chan “Are you a disciple or just a Christian? Is there a difference between the two? Jesus told us to go and make disciples, but instead we make Christians. We are often guilty of not preparing people for what it TRULY means to be a fully-devoted follower of Jesus Christ. In Luke 14:25-35 Jesus is brutally honest about what it means to be a disciple rather than just being a Christian.” – Allen Parr “Can you contemplate a world without salt and light? That is what Jesus has called us to be and if we don’t live up to the task, somebody else will and we can’t dictate the outcome” – Monday Ogwuojo Ogbe – Otakada.org – Matthew 5:13-16 Key verses for Today: Matthew 28:18-20 Amplified Bible (AMP) 18 Jesus came up and said to them, “All authority (all power of absolute rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.” Luke 14:25-34 The Message (MSG) Figure the Cost 25-27 One day when large groups of people were walking along with him, Jesus turned and told them, “Anyone who comes to me but refuses to let go of father, mother, spouse, children, brothers, sisters—yes, even one’s own self!—can’t be my disciple. Anyone who won’t shoulder his own cross and follow behind me can’t be my disciple. 28-30 “Is there anyone here who, planning to build a new house, doesn’t first sit down and figure the cost so you’ll know if you can complete it? If you only get the foundation laid and then run out of money, you’re going to look pretty foolish. Everyone passing by will poke fun at you: ‘He started something he couldn’t finish.’ 31-32 “Or can you imagine a king going into battle against another king without first deciding whether it is possible with his ten thousand troops to face the twenty thousand troops of the other? And if he decides he can’t, won’t he send an emissary and work out a truce? 33 “Simply put, if you’re not willing to take what is dearest to you, whether plans or people, and kiss it good-bye, you can’t be my disciple. 34 “Salt is excellent. But if the salt goes flat, it’s useless, good for nothing. “Are you listening to this? Really listening?” Introduction Dear brethren, welcome to the tenth series on the Christian church – Go make disciples. Today, we exploring two inputs from Rev Edmund Chan on the need to engage the marketplace and Allen Parr providing us the litmus test for who is a disciple and who is not so that we can consider, learn and apply to our specific situation and circumstances – Your life, my life and everything and everyone around us are our mission fields. Mission field is essentially borderless… MARKETPLACE DISCIPLESHIP: THE KINGDOM STRIKES BACK! How do we redeem the marketplace for Jesus? Think for a moment. Where do the MAJORITY of men and women spend a MAJORITY of their time interacting with a MAJORITY of the lost world? At church? In the neighbourhood? NO. In the workplace! Yet, as Doug Sherman, in Your Work Matters to God, indicates: “Our surveys reveal that 90-97% of Christians have never heard a sermon relating biblical principles to their work life.” For many, work can be a drag. Many find their jobs unfulfilling. They hate Mondays and can’t wait for Fridays. They live for weekends and vacations. According to a Princeton management survey of the American public, 62% of Americans say they hate their jobs! Is that the way it’s supposed to be? What should be the Christian’s response to work? Conclusion and prayer. In our Christian race, the

And why not? Because you know you’d be asking for what you have no right to. You’re spoiled children, each wanting your own way. 4-6 You’re cheating on God. If all you want is your own way, flirting with the world every chance you get, you end up enemies of God and his way. And do you suppose God doesn’t care? The proverb has it that “he’s a fiercely jealous lover.” And what he gives in love is far better than anything else you’ll find. It’s common knowledge that “God goes against the willful proud; God gives grace to the willing humble.” Romans 6 The Message (MSG) When Death Becomes Life 6 1-3 So what do we do? Keep on sinning so God can keep on forgiving? I should hope not! If we’ve left the country where sin is sovereign, how can we still live in our old house there? Or didn’t you realize we packed up and left there for good? That is what happened in baptism. When we went under the water, we left the old country of sin behind; when we came up out of the water, we entered into the new country of grace—a new life in a new land! 3-5 That’s what baptism into the life of Jesus means. When we are lowered into the water, it is like the burial of Jesus; when we are raised up out of the water, it is like the resurrection of Jesus. Each of us is raised into a light-filled world by our Father so that we can see where we’re going in our new grace-sovereign country. 6-11 Could it be any clearer? Our old way of life was nailed to the cross with Christ, a decisive end to that sin-miserable life—no longer at sin’s every beck and call! What we believe is this: If we get included in Christ’s sin-conquering death, we also get included in his life-saving resurrection. We know that when Jesus was raised from the dead it was a signal of the end of death-as-the-end. Never again will death have the last word. When Jesus died, he took sin down with him, but alive he brings God down to us. From now on, think of it this way: Sin speaks a dead language that means nothing to you; God speaks your mother tongue, and you hang on every word. You are dead to sin and alive to God. That’s what Jesus did. 12-14 That means you must not give sin a vote in the way you conduct your lives. Don’t give

Don’t give it the time of day. Don’t even run little errands that are connected with that old way of life. Throw yourselves wholeheartedly and full-time—remember,
