Lord, You mean a church can just die out and you permit it, ain’t we supposed to be engraved in the palm of your hands? The church at Sardis ignored warning and died of her own choosing.
Discipleship 101 in the marketplace 5018 of 7000 – The obedient disciples of
Christ must be fruitful and productive unto the Lord knowing the mind of Christ that anything that is not fruitful or productive as it concerns the kingdom is permitted and set aside for decay, die a natural death or perishes.
Matthew 21:19-20
19 And seeing a fig tree by the road, He came to it and found nothing on it but leaves, and said to it, “Let no fruit grow on you ever again.” Immediately the fig tree withered away.20 And when the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, “How did the fig tree wither away so soon?”
James 1:2-4 Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way.
Revelation 3:1-6
1 “And to the angel of the church in Sardis write, ‘These things says He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars: “I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead.2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before God.3 Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.4 You have a few names even in Sardis who have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy.5 He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.6 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” ’
Comment : The “dead” church The church at Sardis was described as being “dead” (3:1). It appeared to be alive – had “a reputation of being alive” – looked spiritually vibrant on the outside – but was spiritually lifeless. There is nothing in scripture that says once saved, forever saved. This a lie to cause Christians to live compromised lives. God will be unjust to permit enthronement of wickedness and iniquity in His body without doing something about it. Heaven will be filled with overcomers and not fly by night Church goers who are not committed to Jesus Christ in thought, words and deeds.
Heavenly Father, I desire to be constantly productive and fruitful in your kingdom, help me to so do for You are no respecter of persons but only those who obey you totally in Jesus name, amen.
