Habakkuk 1:1-17 This is the message that the prophet Habakkuk received in a vision.
Habakkuk’s Complaint
2 How long, O Lord, must I call for help?
But you do not listen!
“Violence is everywhere!” I cry,
but you do not come to save.
3 Must I forever see these evil deeds?
Why must I watch all this misery?
Wherever I look,
I see destruction and violence.
I am surrounded by people
who love to argue and fight.
4 The law has become paralyzed,
and there is no justice in the courts.
The wicked far outnumber the righteous,
so that justice has become perverted. Gods Reply…..verse 17
Introduction: Habakkuk’s world was much like ours – sin was considered normal, and even the leaders were dishonest. What’s more. God seemed not to care. Life sometimes seems unfair. At school, mean classmates are replaced by meaner classmates. At work, a difficult job is replaced by layoff notice. Selfish people get breaks, while honest people get hurt. But like Habakkuk, Christians know that God is in control. He wants us to trust Him. But how can we trust when we have so many unanswered questions? We need to learn to hear his voice from other voices. There are four voices in S that comes to us and one is His. The voice of Self, The Voice of the Situation we are in, the voice of the Surrounding circumstances and the voice of the Spirit of God. What we give attention to is what we hear. Key into His Spirit today in the quietness of the other 3S voices. God is always speaking like He did to Habakkuk and He will speak to us if we give attention to Him.
