It’s my joy and pleasure to be able to share these few days of meeting, trusting that God Almighty, unto whom we have come, will be drawing us to himself and be bringing us a time of refreshing in the name of Jesus. I’d like us to begin tonight with a simple story, which we have read over and over again, but I just want to look at returning, returning to the Father’s love, returning. Every time we talk about Revival, it has to do with restoration. It has to do with returning. It has to do with going back to our first love, our first contact, our first encounter, and our first experience of the Lord. We’re going to read from the book of Luke, chapter 15, tonight. Luke 15, and there are a few issues that we’re going to draw as we pray together. Luke, chapter 15, and the story from verse 11, Luke 15, verse 11, we may be able to read up to verse 32 in the course of our study, but we may not read it all at once, so that we can gain some space of time as we study together. Let’s pray together. Let’s pray. Our Father, we thank you for this opportunity to come to you. We thank you for these few days of meeting. We thank you for the great desire in our hearts to see you move in our midst. Our desire is to see a fresh outpouring of the Spirit of God upon our hearts and upon our community. Lord, we pray that you will begin with us. We do ask that your mercy and your love will reach out unto us again, even this night and in the nights coming. We trust you, Lord, that these three days of meeting will leave us with an indelible mark of divine visitation. Thank you, Lord. We trust you, Lord, that you who broke the five loaves of bread, and it was sufficient to meet the need of thousands, whatever little thing we can break here tonight, we ask, Lord, that it will grow, it will expand, and it will be sufficient for our individual needs to the glory of your name. Thank you, Father. In Jesus’ name we have prayed. Amen. Amen. Luke, chapter 15. I’d like to read you from verse 11. Luke 15, from verse 11. And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, and he took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land, and he began to be in want. And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him into his fields to field swine. And he will fain have filled his belly with the ox that the swine did eat, and no man gave unto him. And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough unto spare, and I perish with hunger. I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and before thee, and I am no more worthy to be called thy son. Make me as one of thy hired servants. And he arose and came to his father, but when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck, and kissed him. And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and in thy sight, and I am no more worthy to be called thy son. But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and shoes on his feet, and bring here the fatted calf, and kill it, and let us eat and be merry. For this my son was dead, and is alive again. He was lost and is found, and they began to be merry. Now his eldest son was in the field, and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing. And he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant. And he said to him, Your brother is come, and thy father has killed the fatted calf because he has received him safe and sound. And he was angry, and he will not go in. Therefore came his father out, and entreated him. And he, answering, said to his father, Lo, this many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time your commandment, and yet thou never gave me a kid that I might make merry with my friends. But as soon as this your son was come, which has devoured thy living with hallows, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf. And he said to him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine. It was meet that we shall make merry, and be glad, for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again, and was lost and is found. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Now, there are two songs, and the two of them are in need of restoration. But what I want to do tonight is to look at these two

He is the one in whom God is well pleased. God’s pleasure has prospered in his hands. Learning crucial lessons from the pattern of priesthood of Jesus is the burden for the year 2006 clergy retreat which was on the theme, Behold My Servants. It held at Bethany Resorts, KM 21, Yande Boko Alede Road, Boko, Benue State, Nigeria between Monday 16 and Thursday 19, October 2006. There are so many issues that God may be wanting to confront us with in the course of our sitting together in this meeting. While there are several issues and needs that we will be lifting up to God in order for him to address and minister to us, we have come to realize that God is taking the clergy onto a place of divine visitation. We sense very deeply in our hearts that we are at the threshold of a divine outburst. As you see the Lord blending and binding our hearts together, regardless of all our denominational groupings, you see the Holy Ghost doing something particularly in our lives and in our midst. God is going somewhere and as we continue to pray and to seek the face of God, what he will have us do in the clergy retreat this year, it became very clear and it looked very urgent when we saw that God is wanting to show us his Son again. It became a very pertinent issue when the Lord began to say, behold my servant. If we are not going to miss the divine approval that God is holding to us, holding out for our lives and for our ministries, especially within the tenure that God has put you at the ends of affairs in the various dioceses, in the various districts and in the various regional councils where God has made you leaders, then the need to look unto Jesus becomes a very crucial one. And tonight, all I intend just to do is to welcome you, but while we welcome ourselves and we get to interact and get to go and relax, there are a few issues that I felt God will have us to look at when he said, behold my servant, behold my servant. Now we are not going to endeavour tonight to start looking at it from the book of Isaiah where God is going to be showing us several peculiar things about Jesus that made him who he is. But I have seen God wanting to point Jesus to us very deliberately from the book of Matthew chapter 3 and the book of Matthew chapter 6, 17. Now I would like to begin by drawing your attention to what is it that we make God to suddenly, in the two passages that we read in the book of Matthew, there was something about suddenly a voice came from heaven. Have you noticed that? That in Matthew chapter 3 they say suddenly there was a voice from heaven and what does the voice say? This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased. Then in chapter 17, while Jesus Christ took his disciples to the mount and as he prayed, the Bible said he was transfigured before their eyes, his visage changed and he started glistening like the sun. I couldn’t imagine the kind of glory that was beginning to break forth around Jesus. Here were the disciples that had been with him. Imagine that somebody like John would put his head on the bosom of Jesus. Imagine that they slept together and they ate together and in the chapter earlier, chapter 16, Jesus had taken them to Caesarea Philippi in a village and he had asked them, whom do men say that I the son of man am? Do you remember? And they said some say you are Elijah, another one say you are one of the prophets, another one say you are this, you are that, you are this, you are that. You can imagine Jesus. He was in the midst of his disciples and it was amazing that they also didn’t even know whom they have. Can you imagine? They were eating with him, they were sleeping with him, they were traveling with him, they were hearing him, they were listening to his teaching but they’ve not known him. They’ve not seen the man they carry. They’ve not seen the glory that is dwelling among them and when Peter said thou art the Christ, the son of the living God, Jesus said Simon, son of Jonas, flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, only my father that is in heaven. But you see at the end of that discussion, he said, and there are some of you standing here, that you will not taste death until you see the son of man in his glory. And then 6 days after, 6 days after, he took them to this man. As if he just wanted, you know, in my village, we normally do a yearly festival of masquerades. And you know sometimes, you know, masquerades, when they are coming out, they come out so fierce, they come out, you know, and they have different kind of outlook. And when the masquerade is coming, everybody is running and they will say, yes, it’s coming directly from heaven. Everybody is running, everybody, and my father used to carry one of the fearful masquerades. And you know, I had grown up, I never knew he was the one inside
